Have you ever wondered what secrets lie beyond the veil? I was listening to a reader, someone who claims to speak to the other side. He speaks to his guides. The question was asked: is Bigfoot real? And his answer surprised me. He said they are an ancient alien race brought here to mine for minerals. They have the ability to shape-shift and disappear. I loved it. From that one idea, I created Lance, using the ancient Igigi. The Igigi was referenced in the writing of Gilgamesh—only one sentence. I hope you love this character as much as I enjoy writing about him.

In October of 2025, my husband—an award-winning photographer—and I embarked on a trip to the stunning Southern Oregon coast. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped by the area's natural beauty, which was nothing short of breathtaking. This was our first opportunity to dip our toes into the vast Pacific Ocean, albeit with rubber boots that kept our feet dry during our exploration.

As I strolled along the shoreline, I encountered a curious sea creature making its home in the ebbing tide: the sea anemone. With its vivid colors and alien-like shape, I found myself completely mesmerized. The way it swayed gently with the water brought to mind the enchanting worlds that science fiction writers often create. I couldn’t help but think how, upon first glance, this unique ocean inhabitant could easily be mistaken for a monster from another planet—or perhaps even the savior in a fantastic tale.
